Ordering cannabis seeds in 2024 – legal?
Yes, since 2024 you can buy cannabis seeds. Completely legally, online or in shops. This is due to the passing of the Cannabis Legalization Act in Germany in April 2024. Since then, cannabis consumption and possession have only been prosecuted in a limited way, and cultivation for personal use is now allowed. This has led to a surge in on CBD oils and flowers. We source our cannabis seeds from trusted sources, some directly from the USA. We also let our customers speak for us: With over 6,000 5-star reviews, we’ve earned our reputation as a premium hemp brand.
What types of cannabis seeds are there?
You can buy different types of cannabis seeds in our online cannabis seed shop. Which one you choose depends entirely on what you want: Do you want plants that produce THC? Do you want to grow pure CBD plants? And how much time do you have? Do you want a quick grow? Do you have a grow tent? Your answer to these questions will determine which seeds are “right” for you. We’ll introduce all the varieties, including pros and cons, so you can decide for yourself:
THC Seeds
As the name suggests, these are marijuana seeds that produce high levels of psychoactive THC when they flower. However, there is a distinction between auto-flowering and photoperiod varieties. Photoperiod plants depend on the number of sunlight hours per day to trigger flowering. Once the days get shorter, the plant detects this and starts developing flowering traits. If you have a grow tent, you can artificially simulate this by running your lamp for only 12 hours a day. On the other hand, there are auto-flowering varieties, also known as "Autos." These are not dependent on the light cycle and will flower automatically a few weeks after germination. Automatic cannabis seeds are ideal for growers who don't have a grow box and don’t have the time to grow the slower photoperiod varieties (for example, because summer is almost over and the days are already getting too short).
CBD Seeds
In addition to the sought-after THC seeds, Lucky Hemp also offers cannabis seeds that only produce the CBD compound without any psychoactive substances. Unlike our THC seeds, these are exclusively photoperiod varieties, meaning they require different light cycles for different stages of growth.
All seeds in our shop are feminized. This means they are female plants, which is crucial since only female plants produce active compounds like THC and CBD, while male hemp plants produce pollen for fertilizing female plants. If you don’t want to breed your cannabis seeds, male plants can be a hassle, so it’s better to avoid them. Based on the information you now have, decide which cannabis seeds are best for you and your home setup. Is it a late outdoor grow? Then it's better to buy automatic cannabis seeds. If it’s still spring or you have a grow tent, you can try photoperiod varieties. But remember: Decide whether you want THC seeds or CBD seeds. Mixing them up in either direction could be frustrating – or even dangerous.

That means, if you want to not only order but also germinate your cannabis seeds, sooner or later you’ll have to get your hands dirty.
I bought cannabis seeds – now what?
Congratulations! Your journey is about to begin. We won’t go into the details of cultivation, but we can outline the first steps. Once you have all the equipment you need for your grow, it’s time to germinate the seeds. Germinating cannabis seeds can be a delicate process that requires a bit of finesse. There are various methods for germination, which are often debated in forums. We recommend trying out what works best for you. One of the most well-known techniques is germinating between paper towels or cotton pads. These need to be moist and then wrapped around the cannabis seeds, placed in a dark, warm spot. After about two days, a small white taproot will have grown from the seed. Now it’s time to plant the seed in soil. You must be extremely careful here, as the root is incredibly fragile. If this method feels too risky, you can go the natural route: plant the seed directly in the soil. The only downside is that you won’t know early on whether the seed is germinating. The upside is that if the seed doesn’t sprout, it’s rarely your fault. Good luck, whichever method you choose!
Buying cannabis seeds online?
You might be wondering how that even works. After all, a seed is a living product, from which a real plant will grow. But don’t worry, the seed can easily withstand shipping, storage, and handling. The outer shell of weed seeds is extremely tough and resilient, capable of enduring a lot. Plant seeds are usually in a sort of “hibernation” until environmental conditions tell them it’s spring: moisture and warmth. Nonetheless, you should handle cannabis seeds carefully, using sterile tools. Even though the outer shell is very tough, once it’s cracked open, the tiny seedling inside has little protection and is vulnerable to the elements, bacteria, and mold spores. So, always wash your hands before handling the seeds.
